حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَأْخُذَ أُمَّتِي أَخْذَ الْأُمَمِ قَبْلَهَا شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ "، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَمَا فَعَلَتْ فَارِسُ وَالرُّومُ، قَالَ: " وَمَا النَّاسُ إِلَّا أُولَئِكَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The Day of Judgment will not be established until my Ummah indulges in the deeds of the previous nations, span by span and cubit by cubit. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah, like the people of Persia and Rome did? The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Then who else besides them were among the previous people?
