حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى هَذِهِ الْمِلَّةِ، حَتَّى يُبِينَ عَنْهُ لِسَانُهُ، فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ، أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ، أَوْ يُشَرِّكَانِهِ "، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَكَيْفَ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: " اللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Every child is born upon pure nature, then his parents make him a Jew, a Christian, or a polytheist. People asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), what will happen to those who die before (reaching maturity)?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah knows best what they would have done when they grew up.
