حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَجْلَى الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحِجَازِ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا ظَهَرَ عَلَى خَيْبَرَ أَرَادَ إِخْرَاجَ الْيَهُودِ مِنْهَا، وَكَانَتِ الْأَرْضُ حِينَ ظَهَرَ عَلَيْهَا لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى وَلِرَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِلْمُسْلِمِينَ (١) ، فَأَرَادَ إِخْرَاجَ الْيَهُودِ مِنْهَا، فَسَأَلَتِ الْيَهُودُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُقِرَّهُمْ بِهَا، عَلَى أَنْ يَكْفُوا عَمَلَهَا، وَلَهُمْ نِصْفُ الثَّمَرِ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " نُقِرُّكُمْ بِهَا (٢) عَلَى ذَلِكَ مَا شِئْنَا "، فَقَرُّوا بِهَا، حَتَّى أَجْلَاهُمْ عُمَرُ إِلَى تَيْمَاءَ وَأَرِيحَاءَ (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) expelled the Jews and Christians from the land of Hijaz, and when the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) conquered Khaybar, he intended at that very time to expel the Jews from there, because the land belongs to Allah, His Messenger, and the Muslims. However, the Jews requested the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) to let them stay there, promising that they would work hard and suffice the Muslims, and would give them half of the fruits. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "We will let you stay here as long as we wish" (i.e., it will be subject to our discretion). Thus, those people continued to live there until Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) expelled them towards Tayma and Ariha.
