Musnad Ahmad Hadith 6213

Imam Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I used to go to and come from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) for about one and a half to two years, but during this period I did not hear any hadith from him except this one. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Once we were with the Prophet (ﷺ) when a lizard was brought. People began to eat it. One of the noble wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) called out and said that this is the meat of a lizard. (Upon hearing this, the companions stopped.) The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Eat it, it is lawful and there is no harm in eating it, but it is not something I eat. And the Prophet (ﷺ) himself refrained.
