حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ، يَذْكُرُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ شَجَرَةً، ، يُنْتَفَعُ بِهَا، مِثْلَ الْمُؤْمِنِ، هِيَ الَّتِي لَا يُنْفَضُ وَرَقُهَا "، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: أَرَدْتُ (١) أَنْ أَقُولَ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ، فَفَرِقْتُ مِنْ عُمَرَ ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ بَعْدُ يَقُولُ: " هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I know of a tree from which benefit is derived, and it is like a Muslim, and its leaves do not fall." I wanted to say that it is the date-palm tree, but then I was afraid of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Later, I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say that it is the date-palm tree.
