حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ، فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ، فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ، وَإِنِّي (١) لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا " فَنَبَذَهُ (٢) ، فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ (٣)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) had a ring made of gold. When the people saw the Prophet (ﷺ), they also had gold rings made. One day the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and said: "I used to wear this ring." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) threw it away, and the people also threw away their rings.
