Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا صَخْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جُوَيْرِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا قَالَ الرَّجُلُ لِصَاحِبِهِ: يَا (١) كَافِرُ، فَإِنَّهَا تَجِبُ عَلَى أَحَدِهِمَا، فَإِنْ كَانَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ كَافِرٌ (٢) فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ، وَإِلَّا رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ (٣) مَا قَالَ " (٤)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When a person calls his brother 'O disbeliever,' then one of the two must bear it; either the one who was called a disbeliever is indeed a disbeliever, or else it returns upon the one who said it."
