حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ " (١) قَالَ: وَلَقَدْ تَعَشَّى ابْنُ عُمَرَ مَرَّةً وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَةَ الْإِمَامِ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "When food is placed before any of you and the prayer is established, then eat the food first." The narrator says that on one occasion, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) continued eating the food even though he could hear the recitation of the Imam.
