حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي الطَّحَّانَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: لَقِينَا الْعَدُوَّ فَحَاصَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ حَيْصَةً، فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَاصَ، فَدَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ قَالَ: فَتَعَرَّضْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ، حِينَ خَرَجَ لِلصَّلَاةِ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَحْنُ الْفَرَّارُونَ قَالَ: " بَلْ أَنْتُمُ الْعَكَّارُونَ (١) إِنِّي فِئَةٌ لَكُمْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once we confronted the enemy, and during the battle people became frightened and began to flee; I was among them. We reached Madinah Munawwarah, and when the Prophet (ﷺ) came out for prayer, we presented ourselves before him and said: O Messenger of Allah! We are those who fled and ran away. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "No, rather you are those who turn back and attack. I am a group among you."
