It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) led the ‘Isha prayer during the last days of his life. When he had finished the prayer with salam, he stood up and said: “Remember this night, for after a full hundred years from tonight, none of those who are present on the face of the earth today will remain.” Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that many people became confused by this statement of the Prophet (ﷺ) and began to say various things regarding the “hundred years.” In reality, the Prophet (ﷺ) had said: “Those who are present on the face of the earth today,” and what he meant was that this generation would come to an end (he did not mean that the Day of Judgment would occur a hundred years from today).
