حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُصَلِّي فِي السَّفَرِ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَتَهَجَّدُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ " (٤)، ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَا يُصَلِّي فِي السَّفَرِ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَتَهَجَّدُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ: فَقُلْتُ لِسَالِمٍ: كَانَا يُوتِرَانِ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to perform only two rak'ahs of prayer while traveling, but at night he would offer Tahajjud. The narrator says: I asked Salim (may Allah have mercy on him), did he also offer Witr? He replied in the affirmative.
