حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ كَانَ قَدْ جَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمًا يَعْتَكِفُهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، " فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, on the authority of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that I once submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah: O Messenger of Allah! I had vowed to observe i'tikaf for one night in Masjid al-Haram. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered that this vow be fulfilled.
