Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ الْمَغَانِمَ تُجَزَّأُ خَمْسَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ، ثُمَّ يُسْهَمُ عَلَيْهَا فَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهُوَ لَهُ يَتَخَيَّرُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I saw the spoils of war being divided into five portions, and I also saw a share being allocated from it. The portion that belonged to the Prophet (ﷺ) was at his discretion.
