Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا عَنْ إِمْسَاكِ الْكَلْبِ، فَقَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ أَمْسَكَهُ، نَقَصَ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the issue of keeping a dog, so he replied that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed me that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever keeps a dog, two qirats are deducted from his reward every day."
