حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ،، ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ زَيْدَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ بِأَسْفَلِ بَلْدَحَ، وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَحْيُ، فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُفْرَةً فِيهَا لَحْمٌ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَا آكُلُ مِمَّا (١) تَذْبَحُونَ عَلَى أَنْصَابِكُمْ، وَلَا آكُلُ إِلَّا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ " حَدَّثَ هَذَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once, before the beginning of the period of revelation in the lowlands of Makkah Mukarramah, the Prophet (ﷺ) met Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl. The Prophet (ﷺ) spread out a dining mat before him and brought meat and placed it in front of him. He refused to eat it and said, "I do not eat the meat of those animals which you sacrifice in the names of your idols; rather, I only eat those things over which Allah's name has been mentioned."
