حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَيْمَنَ يَسْأَلُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَأَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ يَسْمَعُ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ فِي قُبُلِ عِدَّتِهِنَّ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
Abdur Rahman bin Ayman (may Allah have mercy on him) once asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the issue of divorce during menstruation. Abu Az-Zubair was listening to this conversation. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (ﷺ) recited this verse of Surah Al-Ahzab in this way: "O Prophet! When you people want to divorce your wives, then divorce them at the beginning of their waiting period" (meaning to divorce them in the days of purity, not during menstruation).
