حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ جُمْهَانَ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَمْشِي فِي الْوَادِي بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَلَا يَسْعَى، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: فَقَالَ: " إِنْ أَسْعَ (١) فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْعَى، وَإِنْ أَمْشِ (٢) فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي، وَأَنَا شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Kathir bin Jumhan says that I saw Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) walking at a normal pace between Safa and Marwah, so I asked him, "Are you walking at a normal pace?" He replied: "If I walk at a normal pace, then I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) walking like this as well, and if I walk quickly, then I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) walking like that as well, and I have become very old."
