In the gathering of Salim (may Allah have mercy on him), a person was narrating this hadith that once bread and meat were presented to the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Give me a foreleg." The foreleg was given to the Prophet (ﷺ), and he ate it. After that, he said: "Give me another foreleg." That too was given to the Prophet (ﷺ), and he ate it as well. Then he said: "Give me another foreleg." Someone said, "O Messenger of Allah! There are only two forelegs in a goat." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "By your father's life! If you had remained silent, I would have continued to receive forelegs as long as I kept asking you for them." When Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) heard this hadith, he said: "This is not correct at all, because I heard Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) say that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah forbids you from swearing oaths by the names of your forefathers.'"
