حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: أَسْلَمَ غَيْلَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَتَحْتَهُ عَشْرُ نِسْوَةٍ، فقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " خُذْ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Ghaylan bin Salamah Thaqafi accepted Islam, he had ten wives in his marriage. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "Select four of them (and divorce the remaining six)."
