Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي غَنِيَّةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَنَابٍ، (١) عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَئِنْ تَرَكْتُمُ الْجِهَادَ، وَأَخَذْتُمْ بِأَذْنَابِ الْبَقَرِ، وَتَبَايَعْتُمْ بِالْعِينَةِ، لَيُلْزِمَنَّكُمُ اللهُ مَذَلَّةً فِي رِقَابِكُمْ، لَا تَنْفَكُّ عَنْكُمْ حَتَّى تَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللهِ وَتَرْجِعُوا عَلَى (٢) مَا كُنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "If you abandon jihad, become occupied with holding the tails of cows, and become engrossed in buying fine and luxurious things, then Allah will send calamities upon you, and He will not remove them until you repent and return to your religion."
