حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أُرِيتُ (٣) فِي النَّوْمِ أَنِّي (٤) أَنْزِعُ بِدَلْوِ بَكْرَةٍ عَلَى قَلِيبٍ، فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ، وَنَزَعَ نَزْعًا ضَعِيفًا وَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَاسْتَقَى فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا، فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ، ، يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى رَوَّى (١) النَّاسُ وَضَرَبُوا بِعَطَنٍ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he once saw Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) in a dream. He said: I saw that I was drawing water from a well with a bucket. In the meantime, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and he drew one or two buckets, but there was some weakness in it. May Allah forgive him. Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) drew water, and the bucket became a large bucket in his hand. I have not seen any outstanding person drawing water as he did, until he gave water to the people to their fill.
