English translation
Abu Wa'il says that Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to give a sermon every Thursday. Someone said to him: We wish that you would give us a sermon every day. He replied: I do not like to cause you boredom, and the Prophet (ﷺ) would also leave some days without giving advice and admonition for this very reason, as he did not like our becoming bored.
