حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَتْ: " سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي نَحْوَ الرُّكْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَصْدَعَ بِمَا يُؤْمَرُ، وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ {فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ} [الرحمن: ١٣] " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Asma that one day I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) praying in front of the Black Stone. This was at a time when the Prophet (peace be upon him) had not yet been commanded to invite the polytheists openly. I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) reciting this verse in that prayer, while the polytheists were also listening: "So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?"
