English translation

Ata bin Yasar says that I asked the noble wife of the Prophet, Maymunah, about wiping over leather socks (masah on khuffain), so she told me that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah, can a person wipe over the leather socks at any time, or will he have to take them off?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Yes."
