Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: When the time comes for a Prophet’s soul to be taken, after his soul is taken, his reward is shown to him, then it is returned and he is given the choice whether he should be returned to that reward and joined with it (or sent back to the world). I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) during his illness of death, that his neck had drooped, and I heard him saying: "With those upon whom Allah has bestowed His favor, such as the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous, and what a good companionship they are." I understood that the Prophet (ﷺ) was given the choice at that moment.
