Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that one day Sahla came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! We used to consider Salim as our son; he lived with me and Abu Hudhaifa and saw matters of my privacy. Now Allah has revealed the command regarding adopted sons, which you also know, and because of this I now see signs of displeasure on Abu Hudhaifa's face." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Give him ten sips of your milk." Thus, after that, Salim became like their foster son. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) understood from this hadith that this command is general for all Muslims, while the other noble wives considered it specific to Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifa.
