Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا (١) أَبِي، قَالَ:، سَمِعْتُ حَرْمَلَةَ الْمِصْرِيَّ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ الْمَهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ، فَقَالَتْ: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ، فَذَكَرَ قِصَّةً، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " اللهُمَّ مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أُمَّتِي شَيئاً (٢) فَرَفَقَ بِهِمْ، فَارْفُقْ بِهِ، وَمَنْ شَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاشْقُقْ عَلَيْهِ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: O Allah! Whoever is made responsible for any affair of my Ummah and causes them hardship, then O Allah, inflict hardship upon him; and whoever is made responsible for any affair of my Ummah and treats them gently, then be gentle with him.
