Abdur Rahman bin Harith says that once Marwan bin Hakam sent me with a man to Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask: If a man enters the morning in the month of Ramadan in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity) and has not yet performed ghusl (ritual bath), what is the ruling? Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that sometimes the Prophet (ﷺ) would intentionally be in a state of janabah in the morning, then he would perform ghusl and complete the fast for the rest of the day. And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied that sometimes the Prophet (ﷺ) would intentionally enter the morning in a state of janabah without having had a wet dream, and he would complete his fast.
