Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate in prayer: "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from sins and from debt." Once someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Why do you seek refuge from debt so frequently?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "When a person is afflicted with debt (and he is indebted), he tells lies when he speaks and breaks promises when he makes them."
