English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once some Jews sought permission to enter the house of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "As-Saam Alaik" (which means: death be upon you). The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Wa Alaikum" (and upon you). Hearing this, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "Death and curse be upon you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Aisha! Do not be so outspoken." I said, "Did you not hear what they are saying?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I have replied to them: Wa Alaikum (death be upon you)."
