حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ أَبُو حَفْصٍ الْمُعَيْطِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا تَكْتَنِينَ؟ " (٤) قُلْتُ: (٥)، ، بِمَنْ أَكْتَنِي؟ (١) قَالَ: " اكْتَنِي بِابْنِكِ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ " قَالَ: فَكَانَتْ تُكَنَّى بِأُمِّ عَبْدِ اللهِ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Why do you not adopt a kunya (honorific name)?" She replied, "On whose name should I adopt a kunya?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Adopt your kunya after your son (nephew) Abdullah." Thus, her kunya became Umm Abdullah.
