حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ (١) ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ (٢) ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَتْنِي خَالَتِي عَائِشَةُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا: " لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ (٣) عَهْدٍ بِشِرْكٍ، أَوْ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ، لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ، فَأَلْزَقْتُهَا بِالْأَرْضِ، وَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ، بَابًا شَرْقِيًّا وَبَابًا غَرْبِيًّا، وَزِدْتُ فِيهَا مِنَ الْحَجَرِ سِتَّةَ أَذْرُعٍ، فَإِنَّ قُرِيشًا اقْتَصَرَتْهَا حِينَ بَنَتِ الْكَعْبَةَ " (٤)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: If your people had not recently abandoned the Age of Ignorance, I would have demolished the Ka'bah and brought it down to the level of the ground, and I would have made two doors for it—one for entering and one for exiting—and I would have included six cubits of land from the side of Hatim into the House of Allah, because the Quraysh had reduced it when they rebuilt the Ka'bah.
