Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, when the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by those people—meaning ‘Uqbah, Abu Jahl, and others—who had been thrown into the well, the Prophet (ﷺ) stood by them and said, "May Allah give you the worst recompense from the side of the Prophet’s people. How badly these people drove away and how severely they denied." The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Are you speaking to those people who have died?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You do not understand my words any better than they do."
