. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that there was a woman from the Banu Makhzum who used to borrow things from people and then deny having taken them. The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered that her hand be cut off. Her family came to Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) and spoke to him about this matter. He spoke to the Prophet (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Usama! Are you interceding with me regarding one of the limits set by Allah?" Then the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up to deliver a sermon and said, "The people before you were destroyed only because when a noble person among them committed theft, they would let him go, but if a weak person committed theft, they would cut off his hand. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if Fatimah bint Muhammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand as well." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) had the hand of that Makhzumi woman cut off.
