حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ: كَيْفَ كَانَ نَوْمُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْجَنَابَةِ، أَيَغْتَسِلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ؟ فَقَالَتْ: " كُلَّ ذَلِكَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ، رُبَّمَا اغْتَسَلَ، فَنَامَ، وَرُبَّمَا تَوَضَّأَ، فَنَامَ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهَا: كَيْفَ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، أَيَجْهَرُ أَمْ يُسِرُّ؟ قَالَتْ: " كُلَّ ذَلِكَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ، رُبَّمَا جَهَرَ، وَرُبَّمَا أَسَرَّ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Abdullah bin Abi Qais (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Tell me, did the Prophet (ﷺ) perform ghusl (ritual bath) for janabah before sleeping or after sleeping?" She replied, "Sometimes he would perform ghusl before sleeping and sometimes after sleeping." Then I asked, "Tell me, did the Prophet (ﷺ) recite aloud (jahr) or silently (sirri)?" She replied, "Sometimes aloud and sometimes silently."
