حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُذْرَةَ، رَجُلٌ كَانَ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحَمَّامَاتِ لِلرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءِ، ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ لِلرِّجَالِ فِي الْمَآزِرِ، وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لِلنِّسَاءِ " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the beginning, the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade men and women from going to the bathhouse. Later, men were permitted to go to the bathhouse with a lower garment, but women were still not given permission.
