Musnad Ahmad Hadith 24985

It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) never struck any servant or any wife, nor did he ever hit anyone with his own hand except when he was fighting in the way of Allah. If anyone committed insolence against the Prophet (ﷺ), he never took revenge for himself, but if the sanctities of Allah were violated, he would take revenge for the sake of Allah. And whenever two options were presented before the Prophet (ﷺ), and one of them was easier, the Prophet (ﷺ) would choose the easier one, unless it was a sin, because if it was a sin, the Prophet (ﷺ) would keep away from it more than anyone else. And after meeting with Jibreel (peace be upon him), who used to come to the Prophet (ﷺ) to inspire him, the Prophet (ﷺ) would become more generous than even a swift wind.
