Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي مُعَاذَةُ الْعَدَوِيَّةُ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: " مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ أَنْ يَغْسِلُوا (١) عَنْهُمْ أَثَرَ الْخَلَاءِ وَالْبَوْلِ، فَإِنِّي أَسْتَحِي (٢) أَنْ آمُرَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that some women from Basra came to her, so she instructed them to perform istinja (cleaning) with water and said, "Order your husbands to do the same. I feel shy to say this to them, because the Prophet (ﷺ) used to perform istinja only with water."
