English translation

Saibah, who was the freed slave woman of Fakah bin Mughira, says that once I went to the service of Aisha and saw a spear placed in her house. I asked her, "O Mother of the Believers! What do you do with this spear?" She replied, "This is kept for those lizards and I kill them with it, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) narrated this hadith to us: When Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, there was no animal on the earth except that it was trying to extinguish the fire, except for this lizard, which was blowing on it (to ignite it further). Therefore, the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered us to kill the lizard."
