حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، " أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتْرُكُ الْعَمَلَ وَهُوَ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَعْمَلَهُ، كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَسْتَنَّ النَّاسُ بِهِ، فَيُفْرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَكَانَ (١) يُحِبُّ مَا خُفِّفَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ الْفَرَائِضِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes the Prophet (ﷺ) would abandon a certain act despite liking it, only because he feared that people might start practicing it and as a result, it would become obligatory upon them (and then they might not be able to do it). Therefore, the Prophet (ﷺ) preferred that there should be ease in the obligations upon people.
