حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، قَالَ: صُنِعَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَاةٌ مَصْلِيَّةٌ فَأُتِيَ، ، بِهَا فَقَالَ لِي: " يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ " فَقَالَ: " يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ " ثُمَّ قَالَ: " يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ " فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَهَلْ لِلشَّاةِ إِلَّا ذِرَاعَانِ؟ فَقَالَ: " لَوْ سَكَتَّ لَنَاوَلْتَنِي مِنْهَا مَا دَعَوْتُ بِهِ " قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْجِبُهُ الذِّرَاعُ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he cooked meat in a pot for the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Give me its foreleg.” So I took it out and gave it to him. After a little while, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked for another foreleg, and I gave that too. After a little while, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) again asked for a foreleg. I said, “O Messenger of Allah! How many forelegs does a goat have?” The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent, forelegs would have continued to come out from this pot as long as I kept asking you for them.”
