حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَلْمَانُ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِطَعَامٍ وَأَنَا مَمْلُوكٌ فَقُلْتُ: هَذِهِ صَدَقَةٌ " فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَأَكَلُوا وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ "، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ بِطَعَامٍ فَقُلْتُ: هَذِهِ هَدِيَّةٌ أَهْدَيْتُهَا لَكَ أُكْرِمُكَ بِهَا فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُكَ لَا تَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ، " فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَأَكَلُوا وَأَكَلَ مَعَهُمْ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) that during my period of slavery, once I brought food to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "This is charity." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) instructed his companions, and they ate it, but the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) did not eat it himself. On another occasion, I brought food again and said, "This is a gift which I have brought for you out of respect for you, because I have seen that you do not eat charity." So the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) instructed his companions, and they ate it, and the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) also ate it with them.
