حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ، فَقَالَ: " لَا، ، أُحِبُّ الْعُقُوقَ "، كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ الِاسْمَ، وَقَالَ: " مَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُ، فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْسُكَ عَنْ وَلَدِهِ فَلْيَفْعَلْ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person asked the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) about ‘Aqiqah. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: I do not like ‘Uquq (from which this word is derived and which means disobedience to parents), thus he expressed dislike for this word, and said: Whoever has a child born to him and wishes to slaughter an animal on his behalf, he should do so.
