Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that this verse was revealed to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ): "Those women who commit indecency..." So the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) dealt with such women in this manner. Once, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was sitting and we were also sitting around him (when revelation began to descend upon the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him). Whenever revelation would descend upon the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), his attention would turn away from us and we would also move away. The color of the Noble Prophet’s (ﷺ) blessed face would change and he would experience great difficulty. In any case, when the state of revelation ended, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Take this from me, take this from me. Allah Almighty has set a way for women: If an unmarried man commits fornication with an unmarried woman, he should be given a hundred lashes and exiled for one year. And if a married man commits fornication with a married woman, he should be given a hundred lashes and also stoned."
