حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ خَلْدَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيِ (٢) النَّاسِ فَجَلَسْتُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ، ، تَرْكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَجْلِسَ؟ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُكَ جَالِسًا وَالنَّاسُ جُلُوسٌ. قَالَ: " وَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَلَا يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى يَرْكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I entered the Prophet’s Mosque and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was sitting among the people. I also went and sat in the gathering. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: What prevented you from offering two rak‘ahs before sitting down? I submitted: I saw you sitting and the people also appeared to be sitting, so I sat down as well. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When any one of you enters the mosque, he should not sit until he has offered two rak‘ahs.
