حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا فَرَجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا لُقْمَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ ". قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَعَلَى الثَّانِي؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ ". قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَعَلَى الثَّانِي؟ (١) قَالَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ " قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَعَلَى الثَّانِي؟ قَالَ: " وَعَلَى الثَّانِي ". وَقَالَ (٢) رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ، وَحَاذُوا بَيْنَ مَنَاكِبِكُمْ، وَلِينُوا فِي أَيْدِي إِخْوَانِكُمْ، وَسُدُّوا الْخَلَلَ؛ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَدْخُلُ فِيمَا (٣) بَيْنَكُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْحَذَفِ " يَعْنِي: أَوْلَادَ الضَّأْنِ الصِّغَارَ (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah and His angels send mercy upon those who pray in the first row. The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) requested twice to include the second row in this virtue, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) kept saying the same. Then, upon the third request, he said: And upon the second row as well. And the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Keep your rows straight, join your shoulders together, be gentle in the hands of your brothers, and fill the gaps in between, for indeed Satan enters your rows like small goats.
