حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي خَارِجَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ، يَقُولُ: "فُقِدَتْ آيَةٌ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْأَحْزَابِ حِينَ نَسَخْنَا الْمَصَاحِفَ، قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا " {رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللهَ عَلَيْهِ} [الأحزاب: ٢٣] فَوَجَدْتُهَا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، فَأَلْحَقْتُهَا فِي سُورَتِهَا فِي الْمُصْحَفِ (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that when we were preparing the copies of the Mushaf, I could not find one verse of Surah Ahzab among them which I used to hear the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recite. I searched for it and found it only with Khuzaymah bin Thabit Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), whose testimony the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had declared equal to the testimony of two men. And that verse was: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah." Then I included it in its Surah as part of the Mushaf.
