حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ الْمُطَّلِبِ (٢) بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: دَخَلَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَحَدَّثَهُ حَدِيثًا، فَأَمَرَ إِنْسَانًا أَنْ يَكْتُبَ، فَقَالَ زَيْدٌ: "إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ نَكْتُبَ شَيْئًا مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ، فَمَحَاهُ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
Once, Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) went to meet Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He narrated a hadith to him. Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered a man to write it down, but Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) forbade writing down any of his hadith. So, he erased it.
