English translation
Abu Nadrah says that once Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by our gathering, so a young man stood up and asked him about the travel prayer of the Prophet (ﷺ). He turned towards our gathering and said, "This young man is asking me about the travel prayer of the Prophet (ﷺ), so you all should also remember it well. Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) undertook a journey, he performed only two rak'ahs until his return. Even during Hajj, until his return, and on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (ﷺ) stayed in Makkah for eighteen days but continued to lead the people in two rak'ahs only. Then he would say, 'O people of Makkah! You should stand up and complete the remaining two rak'ahs yourselves because we are travelers.' I performed 'Umrah with him three times, and in those as well, he performed two rak'ahs."
