حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو لَيْلَى عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ مَزِيدَةَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَتْ أُمِّي: كُنْتُ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُثْمَانَ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَعَلَيْنَا أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ قَالَ: فَسَمِعَتْهُ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِصَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ " فَصُومُوا (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
Mazidah bin Jabir narrates from his mother that during the caliphate of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), I was once in the mosque of Kufa. At that time, our leader was Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him). I heard him saying that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has commanded to fast on the tenth of Muharram, so you should also fast.
